Interesting. I wonder what the result will be.

Last week, the Dutch government decided to give 202 of the 264 paintings belonging to the Goudstikker collection back to the family. The family lost their collection to the Nazi's during the war and after the war the paintings were returned to the Dutch government...not to the family. The family has tried to get the paintings back ever since. Untill last week it was denied. Many museums in Holland will loose valuable paintings, but I guess this is long overdue in any case.

At the same time, Austria returned 4 or 5 paintings by Klimmt to their rightful owners (both families live in the US now). Both collections (the 202 Dutch paintings and the 5 Klimmts) have each a value of about 300 million euros....

A second from the artical -
In recent years the amount of works of art being restored to victims and their families has slowed
The other side to this is bureaucratic red tape and back hander’s has been going on in returning looted goods, and that is just as bad as what the Nazi's did. The people involved in that sort of thing should be ashamed of themselves. And those who have items, in their private collections knowing full well that it’s not theirs to keep.

All the looted items should be return to their rightful owners. And let's hope that this will be the case.
