Seen this one, Kai?
Charity removes Churchill statue
Personally, I sympathise with the motive and think it was good initiative, but apparently enough people got their knickers in a twist to have it removed.

I think I like the straightjacke one better than Song. I appreciate the Song sculpture now that I have read the ideas behind it. Until then it is just firewood. On the other hand, I could easily see that the mental health inspired sculpture could be mistaken as a revisionist commentary, and be very offensive.

Personally my own view of the man and not the statue is that he could be a dunk, insane and a tree hugging hippy...He was the right man at the right time...I thought some of his politics stunk, but even then if looked into they were never designed to be vindictive or nasty as some of today. As for the statue, it would be better if there were a series of them, with Maggie in one, Eden, and other figures from history, sane or insane, as it definately served its cause and got a reaction.
