Anyone familiar with British airborne ops in Africa and Normandy will be well aware of James Speedy Hill. He was an amazing man and all who served with him respected him highly.

He passed away last week and this is his obituary written by Mark Hickman who some may know from his excellent websites on Arnhem and the Orne bridgehead

Sorry to hear this, H&J. Thanks for letting us know. I am getting too many of these messages lately. I think about 12 in the last few weeks.

No probs Stevin, I was just talking to Colonel David Wood (pegasus bridge) and he said a similar thing, they are fading fast. Im so glad ive had the chance to meet a few of them, but also sad that I was not so interested in all this earlier and had a chance to meet many more.
