Re: the P 51

I asked myself (but got of course no answer!). Did they have any special way to show when they had shot down a 262??

My question was unclear. I ment that when they shot down a bomber or a fighter they painted a small aeroplane on their own fuselage. BUT, did they paint the same small aeroplane when they had managed to shoot down a 262. The war was on it´s way to the end and perhaps they had loosend the rules a little bit.

Could that star mean that the P 51 had shot a 262 down??

Mats I have interviewed quite a few P-51 pilots that shot down 262's, in nearly all cases the swastika or Germanic + was used under the canopy on the left side for ALL LW aircraft downed. Where I have found the Me 262 symbol painted was on 9th Air Force P-47's.........

back to the Blue Nosers just received the recent newsleter and sad to report 3 noted pilots have passed one, Ed Zellner was actually killed when he blacked out and ran off the road just having his regular medical treatments.

B. Powell is retiring after 22 years as being the editor and contact rep for the 352ndfg. and also a newly revised and second edition of Blue Noser tales is in the works

Went to the Duxford Spring Airshow yesterday with the objective of getting a copy of 'Bluenoser Tales' and - objective achieved !

It's nice that the copy I got is inscribed 'Blue Skies!' by the author. I have to say that on a first, quick flick-through it looks to be well worth every penny. The photos alone are fascinating and I can't wait to start reading through some of the personal accounts. Surely the book will become an 8th AF classic.
