Thumbs up Scots village to honour hero pilot who sacrificed his own life

This was in my local rag today-

Cowie is about two miles away, so once the statue is unveiled I'll try and post a picture of it.
RAF Grangemouth opened in 1938 as the Central Scotland Airport, but was taken over by the Air Ministry on outbreak of war. I think No. 36(?) OTU operated out of there. The airfield is long gone, and its satellite at Balado Bridge near Kinross is now used for the T in the Park rock festival every year.
Other aircraft from this unit crashed in the Ochil Hills in Clackmannanshire/Perth & Kinross, including a B17. I'm led to believe that some of the remains can still be seen, although I've been searching for years.
A bronze plaque commemorating this crash has been mounted inside the bowling club since it was built, and I'm pleased to hear about this statue. The village has only recently acquired a war memorial, after spending decades as the only village in the district without one.

Got over to Cowie yesterday. PO Everiss's name has also been added to the village's new war memorial.
He was also in 58 OTU at Grangemouth, not 36.
