Thanks for the link, Kai - that's fascinating ! The condition of the Merlin engine looks quite amazing.

It's interesting to note that the 'P/O R Holmes' referred to in the article is the very same Ray Holmes who is famous for ramming the 'Buckingham Palace Dornier' during the Battle of Britain, both the Dornier and his Hurricane crashing by Victoria Station in London.

Ray Holmes passed away in June 2005.
