Went to Monte Cassino yesterday & got the tickets the day before for 32.00 Euro for two tickets from Rome train staion
First stop was to the commonwealth war cemetery & near by is the Historriale Di Cassino museum witch is well worth a visit
Both are near to the train station
I found the Battleground Europe book very helpful to

Re: Monte Cassino 2007
What was the CWGC Cemetery like ? Last time i was there we had to chase out some Italian kids who were using the place to smoke dope, drink and graffiti everywhere !!!
My wife and kids went nuts with them no respect !!

Re: Monte Cassino 2007
When i was there we went up to the monastry which is fantastic and is worth a visit in it's self , also went to the German and Polish cemetery's which are now in better locations than the British one as that has had a lot of building done all around it.
I know a Fallschirmjager who lives not to far from me who fought there and was wounded and captured in the Abbey.

Re: Monte Cassino 2007
Paul : A long shot but would he be opposed to give you his impressions of the battle as he saw it for our forums and his background as to unit any actions before Cassino, etc. ? ........ any docs or pics though that might not be likely after his capture

Re: Monte Cassino 2007
Good picture of the Wolverine. It needs some painting though. but looks in a good condition otherwise. Good to hear the cemetery has been cleaned. Thanks for sharing the pictures, I love tank locations. One day I will start a thread with tanks memorials , I know four in Alsace, one in Beaune and the Vimoutiers one.
