There was a time, say early 1943, that Hitler could have done the right thing and saved the German people untold suffering.

Dresden never would have happened. Nurnburg never would have happened. Millions of people would not have died in the camps, millions of men would not have died on the eastern front. Need I go on?

Hmph. What I don't understand is that my grandfather, a Spanish national, was not allowed back in Spain because he defied Franco's order to return and instead stayed fighting in the East. Yet, Franco allowed individuals such as this in.

Yes I'm surprised too, Spain is member of the E.U. so why would he be prosecuted in Germany, France Austria etc.. and not Spain? Also I'm surprised the Germans do not deprive him from his pension.

I was under the impression that members of the SS, including the waffen SS, were not eligible for a pension which is why they created the HAIG organization.

I would be absolutely astonished if Spain chose to adopt certain other EU state's blanket laws on individual's dark pasts, It would lead to rather a great deal of confusion over what to do with a large segment of it's patrician classes from the Franco Era.

I can only imagine he was allowed in because he was a non-Spaniard so his status in a war in which Spain was officially neutral would be irrelevant. Think of Skorzeny, who became a rather successful businessman living in Spain postwar (and Ireland for a period, which I didn't know until double-checking just now...) .

Freedom of speech, or total silence (because you'll always offend someone). This guy is a flake and dangerous to himself and fools who believe him. Laugh at fools don't censor them.

My Dad said "You can't fix a rabid dog so you shoot them." And he did shoot every SS "rabid dog" in the back of the head he came across and apparently he found more than one rabid dog during his time in Europe.

Any of those scum still breathing should be taken out into the streets and shot in the back of the head...and left for the rabid dogs to dispose of.
