Changing trains in Munich on the way back from Nuremberg this week gave me a brief, early-morning opportunity to look at the spot where the Beer Hall Putsch of 8th November 1923 ended.
This is the spot where the road narrows to pass the Feldherrnhalle ; this is the view the marchers would have had at the futhest point they reached on the way to the Bavarian Parliament. A police cordon awaited....

But if you look closely at the wall of the
Feldherrnhalle, the concrete patches show the mounting points for the three 'permanent' wreaths placed by the Nazis to commemorate the 'martyrs of 1923'......
These became the focus of many NSDAP marches and ceremonies.
