Thumbs up Re: Restored 25-pounder goes on display at Portsmouth

A very good £5-worth !

Good to see such a classic artillery piece restored to its former glory.

( I always member meeting a former '25-pounder man' who told me that he loved watching 'A Bridge Too Far' just for the barrage scene, which never failed to 'take him back'...)

Default Palmerston's follies.

If anyone's not been to Fort Nelson and happens to be passing by Pompey I'd recommend it.
Nice collection, as you'd hope from the the Tower's large exhibits department... and free too!
Real rarities there include a Smith gun & the airborne version of the 6 pdr alongside some frankly beautiful earlier pieces and sections of Saddam Hussein's supergun.

Website near useless, but here it is:
Royal Armouries: History of Fort Nelson

Cheers,
Adam.
