Re: Three Tempests being restored in Lincs.
Hmmmm...interesting about the 'Tempests' ( ex-Iraqi Sea Furies, I wonder....? ) but I'm afraid I'd take the idea of the 'Wickenby museum' and warbird pleasure flights with a rather large pinch of salt.
Wickenby has been the centre of many museum rumours ; it's becoming almost, but not quite, as regular as the 'six perfect Lancasters buried at Elsham Wolds' one.......

..or the 'brand new Harleys in crates buried by the Canadians at Hankley Common' one?

No - I much preferred the 'six Lancasters'. Supposedly carefully disassembled, carefully wrapped in oilcloth, and buried. Just dig 'em up, bolt 'em together, spray on some WD40, get the jump leads out - and away you go !

Re: Three Tempests being restored in Lincs.
Ahhh...the plot thickens....
A Google search reveals that a company called 'Tempest Two Ltd' has two ( three ? four ? ) ex-Indian airforce Tempest IIs under wraps in a hangar at Wickenby, variously reported to be a) almost airworthy b) awaiting rebuilt engines c) piles of bits....
Wickenby is still rather remote to be a successful museum, though....

Re: Three Tempests being restored in Lincs.
Are they preserved in Cosmoline or Snakeoil?
