Winston Churchill walked on moon..
Winston Churchill walked on moon, say pupils - Telegraph
One in three primary school pupils believe that Sir Winston Churchill was the first man to walk on the moon, according to a survey.
Last month a similar poll of British teenagers revealed a quarter think that Sir Winston never existed at all.
It transpired they associate the name Churchill with a nodding dog that stars in an advert for insurance, rather than the Second World War leader.

Re: Winston Churchill walked on moon..
Come on guys, like I said in the joke section, we should all know the most famous man on the world is Armstrong who did not only walk on the moon, win the Tour de France 6 times and plays the trompet like a god. At least they remember something of a Bulldog...

Re: Winston Churchill walked on moon..
Were they French as well? Because that would just be stupid
Edit: Just Remembered this just now. This guy was arguing with me about the AK47, he claims that the AK47 is the mainstay rifle used by the American and Australian armed forces of today and it is unbeatable, with no recoil, kick, or in short no flaws.
I argued with him for alittle while, then realised I was 'feeding the troll', so I just kinda nodded politely and said ok.

Tomcat, If I had a penny for every time I have experienced something like that, I would be millionaire.
The most common one is that the Tiger was flawless and the Allies would have done better by not designing the Sherman.

Scott, everyone knows that Julius Caesar invented the internet and Charlie Chaplin was the first man to walk on the moon.
And don't forget Arnold Schwarzenegger, who built The Great Wall Of China...single handed...

Re: Winston Churchill walked on moon..
My favorite question asked by visitors at some US National Parks, as told by a park ranger, is: "Why were so many Civil War battles fought at
National Park sites ?"

Makes you want to take the same list of questions and talk to your own kids! I'd also like to take the list of questions to the schools those kids attend and talk to the teachers. I wonder if some of those kids know World War II really happened and isn't just a computer game?

Why do people believe stuff like that, don't they realise that the Germans lost the war?

I feel sometimes that perhaps this is what has to be done, and perhaps I a might give my kids 'further' teachings in history instead of the useless information 'skimmed' across in schools

When you are on the forum you may have to stop drinking....pop or milk.
The USSR Enterprise, it's five year mission...
This topic seems to be cropping up in multiple threads. Perhaps some of the teachers or schools who allow access to the forum may have someone actually see some of the posts regarding our combination of concern, disgust, and incredulity at the ignorance of the students in our school systems. Hopefully, it could lead to change somewhere. At least the students and young people who come on the forum have a chance to learn some real history.

Lets just hope that everything we know is not one giant conspricecy that the Americans came up with because for some reason they don't like the Germans or the Russians
