Default Dunkirk trip

As photos of the old battlefields and Cemeteries sem to go down quite well I've dug up some ones from October 2006 when we did Dunkirk.
Hope they are of interest.

These are of the Dunkirk Memorial .

This grave caught my attention.
Two men in one grave.
I had relatives in both Regiments in WW1 so although it is WW2 it was still of interest to me.

My wife's Grandad was evacuated from Dunkirk.
I'm sure he said he came off The Mole.
He died in 1995 just a few months before our wedding.
Rather sad that.

This is the Memorial on the sea front.

Further along the coast is De Panne.
Where the final HQ of the BEF was located as well as being an evacuation beach.
Now a thriving holiday resort.
The cemetery was of interest as it had some Canadians who were killed at Dieppe and whose bodies were washed along the coast.
Sorry no photos of them.

One of the beach.

One of the Memorial.

A general view of the Cemetery.

Good photos, especially of the mole. I've done much research on the Dunkirk episode of 1940, as it interests me the most. The few times I've been there I've had trouble locating the French soldier's cemeteries. Anyone know where they are? I know there must be a few in the vicinity.

Thanks for sharing these Wessex. I have a few my parents took in the 50s that perhaps some of the forum members can identify. I shall have to scan them so I can post on a new thread.
