Ukraine needs program for honoring WWII veterans, true history -president

KYIV. May 7 (Interfax) - Ukraine needs a special state program forhonoring WWII veterans and formulating a true history, UkrainianPresident Viktor Yushchenko said during the recording of a special TVprogram - The Great Patriotic War: Lessons for Ukraine -- to bebroadcast on May 8. The state should see to it that historic films and books about thewar are based on exclusively true facts, the president said. Yushchenko also said that he planned to call a competition amongjournalists and writers on the best material about the Great PatrioticWar this May.
