Bulgaria Commemorates End of World War II

9 May 2008, Friday

President Georgi Parvanov laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Sofia in commemoration of the 63rd anniversary of the World War II V-day.

Both May 8 and May 9 were declared by the United Nations' General Assembly time of remembering the end of the Second World War in Europe.

May 9, 1945, ended the deadliest war in history that began with Germany's 1939 invasion of Poland and led to the loss of 55 million lives around the world

Don't know about the US. I'd suppose so. I know Canada did. They also sent a minister to attend ceremonies in France and pay a tribute to Canadian graves.
