Photo confirms Japanese troops bury alive Chinese civilians during WWII
Photo confirms Japanese troops bury alive Chinese civilians during WWII
09:19, September 15, 2008
A photo showing that the Japanese invading troops were burying alive Chinese civilians and disarmed soldiers during the six-week long Nanjing Massacre has been found in Japan, the Asahi Shimbun reported Sunday.
The finding reversed the assertion made by some Japanese that a photo previously provided by the Chinese side was synthesized. The photo actually displays the same fact, but from a different angle.
In July 1938, the Chinese government published "The True Record of the Japanese Invaders' Atrocities". A picture entitled "Burying Alive" in the book was extensively cited as key evidence of the Japanese invading troops' barbarities during the Massacre, said the paper.
Some people in Japan, however, asserted that with no specified date or place, the photo was synthesized or faked.
The report came to a conclusion that with the finding of the photo, the mystery around the Nanjing Massacre has been cleared up.

You would think so. But I doubt it . They would rather just sweep things under the rug rather then admit anything.

I really doubt it as well. They jave done a great job of keeping this quiet for so long, I think it'll continue to be swept under the rug as well!
Thanks JCF!

Re: Photo confirms Japanese troops bury alive Chinese civilians during WWII
It doesn't really matter. The Chinese government knows exactly what happened in that time and so do the Japanese.
Germany has paid and appologized uncountably for the criminal acts during the Third Reich, and yet it is held against today's Germany whenever there is a chance for it.
Today's Japan hasn't done either of both and is also held accountable for its past whenever there is something to be made of it.

Re: Photo confirms Japanese troops bury alive Chinese civilians during WWII
Hello Falkenberg,
No it doesn't matter - the Chinese government has until today not received an offical appology from Japan. And this is what they want and they do not need any further proof.
Sooner or later Japan will do it/ has to do it, since they will depend on China's economy. Unlike the Western countries towards Germany, there is not much of living in history and memory against the Japanese - in fact the Chinese are totally into Japanese products.
The normal citizen of China in general is not interested in relationship with Japanese on private terms due to history -not just ww2, but China's government is keen on Japans technology and investments and at the same time they expect an appology.
If China can see a chance to make some money out of it - looking at Germany, they will do it - but it is not their primary intension. Once China's economy has become self supportive the Chinese government will not expect but DEMAND an appology from Japan.
Regards
Kruska

Re: Photo confirms Japanese troops bury alive Chinese civilians during WWII
I find this odd as back in the early 1970's the Japanese admitted to this, though sadly with so many veterans leaving the planet maybe something else needed to be said for the current generation

Re: Photo confirms Japanese troops bury alive Chinese civilians during WWII
Hello Erich,
I would still say that there is a huge difference between admitting crimes and apologizing for them. which Japan has never done towards China.

Re: Photo confirms Japanese troops bury alive Chinese civilians during WWII
true to that, back in the 1970's there was diplo's from both countries and met over the Japan invades China issue. obviously admitting is not one and the same as apolgising
Japans/China's military relationship goes back for centuries something we westerners tend to forget

Re: Photo confirms Japanese troops bury alive Chinese civilians during WWII
I never understood why Japan takes this line of reasoning, surely they can see its about time to bury this ghost by coming forward and to say sorry. Saying sorry would do them a power of good for them and those who suffered. We can only hope one day they will do the right thing.
