Re: Russian school children an the Holocaust
While I am Russian I did not have the privilege of attending school there, as I left to come to the United States at an early age. However, both of my parents went and both were no strangers to the holocaust nor D-Day.
There was of course far greater importance placed on the war effort in the east ( no surprise ).
I must also add at how surprised my parents were to find out that they were more familiar with the American effort during WW2 then their American colleagues were about the Russian effort during the war. As you can imagine my parents found this to be quite bizarre considering the fact that they were taught more about the the conflict in the west during the Iron Curtain then the Americans were taught about in the east in a democracy.....
I myself was taught virtually nothing about the war in the east when I went to school here.
All the best.
