    Hi all,

This is a question related to my great grandfather, who I made a post about a few years ago.

Since posting, I've recently gotten back into researching and trying to track the battles his regiment was involved in (since posting I've been to Italy including Cassino, which wasn't intentional at the time).

On the regiment's Wiki page, it states:

I know I might not have the luck of having a New Zealander here to assist, but for our American and Canadian friends who might have come across the regiment in your own research, was the 18th Armoured Regiment involved in any combat within the city itself? I know it states they "entered the city", but I understand this could mean they entered once it was under allied control (I see on Wikipedia, Florence was taken by the allies by August 1944).

Any further information on the 18th's activities in this area would be greatly appreciated, as I find the city itself quite interesting (I only got to travel as far north as Pienza). I haven't been able to find much online, however perhaps someone might have additional info from a book etc.
