Today is a great day. I just bought my second tunic. It's a M43 NCO infantry tunic with three loops for awards and one for a ribbon bar. It's my second tunic (all infantry) and hopefully not my last. This weekend there is militaria show in olland and I am going to meet a guy who wells dutch NS stuff. I hope to score some nice pins. Here are two pics of my new new tunic. After the weekend I hope to show some dutch things as well. And then I have to stop expanding for a while (where did I hear this before?).
NO--don't tell me you are going on a MILITARIA diet!!!!! PS: Can you please repost the pics of your tunic? all I see is the box with the "X" in it.
Carl - The diet won't take very long! I want to post the pics again but I think it will not help because I can still view them. Do others also have the problem that they can't see the pic's?
Heh heh heh--another TRUE collector is born and thanks for trying to post the pics--all I still see is the box with the red "X" in it.
I too just got a new tunic. Its a reproduction one, but its still very nice. Its an HBT M43 tunic. One of my favorite parts of reenacting is all the tunics and uniforms you can wear. Whats the fun of having the stuff if you can't play in it, so for me its best to have reproduction uniforms. I still need some waffenfarbe for it, I'm gonna get a panzer recon set and a medic set of shoulder boards. I too have also tried to take a "diet" from collecting stuff, but it didn't work.
Yeah, I decided I had everything that I "needed", Then proceeded to spend $150 on GI gear in one week! But hey, this really is a good investment, and the preservation of history. It's better than spending it on all kinds of technilogical stuff that's going to be outdated in a few years and loose 99% of it's value (that tends to be what all my friends my age do). I'll just go over to thier houses and play gamecube on their large screen tv while I build a huge militaria collection!!! Hahahah!!
That's it, Doc ! Just concentrate on the swinging watch and repeat after me... 'It's an investment .... 'It's an investment .... 'It's an........ '
Volkbert, you did well with the new tunic! I knew you'd be happy with that one. Your collection is becoming an outstanding one!
Thanks Gary! Today I had a mixed militaria day. It became clear that almost all the dutch ns stuff I have is reproduction. Four pieces were wrong. Fortunately the dealers I bought from were at the market. One gave me my money back and the other only wanted to trade one thing back. The most expensive one I bought on the internet and I sent the dealer a mail that I want to change the item. Let's see if he knows what customer service is. The good thing is that I met some fellow collector of dutch ns stuff. I bought some items from them and I showed the items to the other fellow collector who agreed this is good stuff. Well here they come (the scanner is not very good). First is a very special medal, rated extremely rare in Ailsby's new book about wwII medal the satelite states. When the germans invaded Holland in 1940 some of the NSB (dutch ns movement) were interned. After the battle they received a commemorative medal for the internation.
Last one. A membership pin from the Jeugdstorm. Dutch ns youth movement. The pin I posted before in a previous thread was unfortunately a fake.
