Ah HA--I can Finally See I can Finally see it! Great tunic for a highly decorated Sergeant! This is a nice one! Heh heh heh--Kai, I do wear glasses but, they aint rose-colored.
Thanks for your replies! Carl-No I haven't post the pics at wehrmacht yet. But I am glad to read that you finally can see the pics. I received good news from the dealer who sold me the repro pin. I can send it back and choose something else from his site. That's very good news because I am on a small militaria diet and still can get something new!!! I didn't receive the tunic yet. Still waiting.
No problem there since I can finally see the pics. From the sleeve patch--looks like he was a Fortress Armorer? of something like that. I used to collect those kind of patches but quit--as the medals and other things were more to my taste in collecting. At one time, I had a pretty large grouping of Heer, Luftwaffe and Waffen SS, trade patches. I got rid of most except for my Waffen SS Signals Blitx, my Feldgendarmerie shoulder patch, and I think I still have my Kriegsmarine Enlisted breast eagle. the only cloth I actively collect are the Shoulderboards and Collar tabs. Last set of Tabs I bought was for a set to a Luftwaffe Hauptmann in Signals. Last set of Shoulderboards I got were to a Leutnant in the Imperial German 33rd Artillery Regiment--ww1 I have only one Cufftitle--which as a mint one that went to the Herman Goring Panzer Korps. I forgot--I have a few very select Kriegsmarine Cap Tallys too. My last two were: Wilhelm Gustloff and Kommandantur Wilhelmshaven. I got both of those from Detlev.
Carl- the patch means 'Waffen meister', the guy who repaired weapons. (that's the reason why there are so many stains on the tunic, weapon oil ).
Thanks for the clarification. I wasnt sure and I also just realized that Fortress NCOs and Enlistedmen had the Fortress insignia only on their shoulderboards, I should have known Rolleyes for me
OH YEAH?!?! WELL, I just got a mint pair of GI boxer shorts that actually fits me!!! I guess I"m easily amused. I'm kind of a goof like that. Now if I can find some socks that are in decent shape, and a tank top, every single thing in my kit will be 100% original!!
Sorry I didn't write much - I was tired I brought it from Joseph D'Errico (a Wehrmacht Awards member) http://www.reichauctions.com/ Well, Its to a Stabsgefreiten of a Luftwaffe Building Bat. served from '40 to '45. He survived the war at the age of 41. He won the EK2, WB in Black, and the Ost Medal. served in 13 'operations' maily in Russia, It looks like he was wounded and won the EK for defense of a hostile attack in Kasaterkaja. [ 26.
