Heh heh. I've been trying to get ahold of this fellow for quite awhile. Most of that, from what I've been told by others, is not that great.

I've been in contact with quite a few reenactors who know this person, and they haven't had much to say about him. Nice that is-doesn't return messages, doesn't play nice, etc, etc (that is my paraphrasing from what others have said).

    Thanks though.

What's this? Going into production? ;)

You may be interested in Paul Brickhill's "The Great Escape" (possibly out of print but copies still turn up) - there is an interesting chapter on how the prisoners manufactured their own Soldbucher and associated paperwork - all of it lettered by hand, with rubber stamps carved from boot heels - amazing stuff. Plus of course, their stuff HAD to look authentic, in order to pass muster with suspicious guards.

They also were making replica Kar 98ks (non working, natch) for an escape attempt - one kriegie would buttonhole a guard and keep him talking, while his mate would be behind him, carefully measuring all the bits on his Mauser, and all in broad daylight too! The rifles were made from bedboards with metal fittings cast from the foil in cigarette packets and "blued" with graphite.
