Wasn't just me who couldn't get in then; hackers seem to be abounding at the moment... they have wiped out one of the WW1 forums I use regularly! What makes these sad geeks tick?
I guess that I was lucky in that I had no access to computers for almost 3 days--so I missed out on all of the drama.
2 days without seeing these forums grow-AHHHHH! I was getting worried, because sometimes it won't connect for a day, but 2 days!!!! Very Scary....
Nice we're all back!!!! I was getting REALLY worried... How could I live with this site and without you, guys?!
On hackers- It's really unfortunate. I have done much reading in the past on hackers and hacking. Originally, and still today with some people, the point of hacking is not to trash sites or screw people. The first "hackers" were simply early computer programmers who "hacked" together the early computer programs and operating systems. Hacking used to have the same attitude as, say, climbing a mountain- a personal achievement. Hackers would break into systems that had major security, just to show that they had that level of skill. And like the mountain climber who plants a flag on the summit, hackers would often leave a SMALL, UNOBTRUSIVE calling card to let people know they had been there. Although there were always some real creeps out there (Kevin Mitnick being the most infamous), I think it's really only in recent years that hacking has gotten so stupid. What's the challenge (or the point) in just crashing some random site for a day or two? This "crashing sites" kind of crap is really pointless and pathetic- it dosen't even demonstrate any skill. just my 2 cents worth! [ 05 September 2002, 12:37 PM: Message edited by: CrazyD88 ]
It is really a sad shame that these individuals have nothing better to do with their time. But maybe their "time" isn't worth anything ? ! As to the itmes I shjould respond to this......but, actually I don't leave anything on the summit, maybe I should, like an orange peel !! good grief, did I just say that ?! E
Martin : Hick ! If I could spell correctly I would be a happy camper..... It's not the liquid that we drink it's the dope that is grown here. Rogue Gold, some of the best? (crap) grown in the USA and it sell for big bucks . This is a very funny area as in our 150 mile radius some of the most influential people in the states live. E think I'll have a bier
