So our foreign minister died today after being stabbed at a department store yesterday afternoon. While I'm certainly not a social democrat, Anna Lindh was a very competent politician. Needless to say, I and a lot of people are pretty pissed off right now... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/3098834.stm
My condolences with thi sloss, Heartland (and fellow Swedes). This is very shocking news. I know what you feel as a country. Holland went through a similar thing last year...It is absurd that a democracy has to deal with this insanity. I was very shocked at Olav palme's death, but regrettably history repeats itself. I had never expect something like this to happen in either of our countries, but there you go. We have to be careful of our democracy and realise even more that it needs taking care off...
This is a horrible thing, and seems more shocking to happen in Sweden, a country which is not normally associated with such violence.
Again September 11. I wonder why always the good politicians have to die by the hand of murders. Anne Lindh died because she tried to live a normal life just like all of us, not isolated in a "bubble" filled with body guards following her on every step. I coudn't remember a more warm, more friendly politician then she was. I remember when she took her little baby to a summit of EU ministers, because her husband was busy and couldn't take care of the baby during the summit. A great loss for her children, her husband, Sweden and Europe. Sweden can be proud of having had such a person as foreign minister.[ ] AFAIK they found the military jacket, the hat and the knife of the assasin. So they sure have his DNA, but not (yet) his name and himself. I am sad and angry.
They better catch the guy this time, and make sure they have a solid case against him. If they repeat the failure of the Palme murder the credibility of the Swedish Police will be shot to h***. My thoughts go out to her two children and her husband.
Sorry for her loss and I hope that the Swedish police catch her killer. My feelings go out to her family.
I am sad for her death too. What I don't get is how the person, may he burn in hell, who killed Anna Lindh could stabb her in the middle of the Mall and then just disappear. I'm glad that the police is on his trail.
I was shocked when I found out about it. She was a great politician, passionate about her work and a big rolemodel to many. She was our voice in the world. Best regards/ Daniel
Did'nt the Prime Minister of Sweden get murdered in the 1970's sometime ? Did they ever catch the person that murdered him ? Did they get a stiff sentence if they did catch him ?
Olof Palme was murdered in 1986 and the crime remains unsolved. A petty criminal was arrested and held for some time on suspicion but I believe was never charged.
The person was Christer Petterson. I think he was never accused of the crime in the court. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/1626232.stm
Palme murder unsolved despite 130 confessions - Yahoo! News Investigators say about 130 people have confessed to the murder of Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme, but the case remains unsolved 25 years after he was shot on his way home from a movie theater in Stockholm. Incredible....
