I think they are, Tank. And California too (that's why they sent the governator!) [IMG] :D

It's sad we'll have to wait to watch another good war film... [IMG] :(

Hi TA, maybe if we are lucky enough, Disney might refilm all of Davy's parts using a real actor. :D

Actually, with as porous as both are borders are, I do feel like we have been invaded but, I have to thro the Chinese and a few other groups in with this equasion.

Do you remember back about 1980 when we had that flood of Vietnamese Boat People? I remember all the troubles between them and the Shrimpers with several people on both sides being killed. THAT was sure a fiasco, one of now many during the years since then. :(

I wouldn't say invasion...I would say...umm...a subtle re-taking of the Texas government. We're all Texans on this thread (except for Herr General (my apologies)...we've all been to the Alamo (I'm guessing), and I'm assuming all of us have been to the border. I dont think the Mexicans will be taking over any time soon with their butterfly knives and bronze knuckles. :D and lawnmowers...

Indeed, Ike... I'm surrounded by Texans here! [IMG] I'm the only one not Texan - who by the way, lives in the country you're talking about.

I don't want to make this thread political - we were talking about a Disney film... - but I can tell you how Mexicans are - I live surrounded by them - and no, they're not trying to retake anything. The people just leaves their homes to find a 'better' life, where they can earn 10 times more money in one hour than they did in one day here. It has become a great problem for the USA since the proportion of immigrants is enormous and it brings social problems of every kind. And unfortunately, most of those immigrants are very poor people with very low levels of education. And, as in everywhere, there are individuals who are not worth a penny and who are murderers and burglars, but not all of them are like that and anyone has moral authority to segregate them - USA is the immigrants country, isn't it? The only true Americans are the native tribes which were almost annihilated in the XIX century. It is very bad, indeed to see how many immigrants who don't speak English crowd Texan cities and don't provide anything worth it to society. Or at least, that's what people thinks. I wonder how many true-Texans would work 12 hours under the sun, harvesting lettuces for $15... Not many. But there are Mexican workers who do that, earn a fortune ($15 dollars is 5,5 times the minimun salary in Mexico), send it back home and support USA's agriculture. And I do not want to mention a few American landowners who hire 100 illegal Mexicans, pays them those $12 and makes three millions with the harvest... I'm not saying that all Texan ranchers are like that, as well as not all Mexican immigrants are drug-dealers or burglars...

Good point Fried. Up here in my part of Illinois we have alot of Mexicans who have emigrated here. Many of them are very nice people who live in large families as they are very family oriented. There are of course troublemakers as all nationalities have.

If you look back in history alot of the stereotypes given to Mexicans today were attributed to the Irish, Italians, East Europeans, Afro-Americans as they came to this country or obtained their freedom.

    Greg

PS And I'm not from Texas either partner :D

The reason I said Invaded is because take for instance that since late 2000, there have been well over 2,000 armed excursions into the USA proper, with over 200 of those where their have been shots fired. So in a way, I do think the word invaded was properly used.

These "armed excursions" onto American soil, were mostly Mexican Military who were helping in protecting the drug runners as well as the "Coyotes" who were smuggeling the illeagals into the country.

Folks, these "raids" done by the Mexican Military on American soil happens almost every single day. To me, something is wrong when our govt does nothing to stop this crap.

BTW, I have no hatred for Hispanics. Most of my girlfriends have been hispanic and were hot to trot mamas too. Meaning, they know how to make a guy feel realllllll goooood. :D

My last gf was half Spanish and half frainch. My alltime best friends name is OJ Rodriguez. I've known him since he was two. We were neighbors for about 15 years, his father is a successful business owner adn OJ jr. is now a Doctor with his own practice.

Ha ha, one thing I do have that he now does not is, a full head of hair. I do like joking with him about losing most of his hair by the age of 20. [IMG]

    All in fun.

Carl, with all due respect, it's silly that you call those raids an invasion... When you see a bunch of bandits killing American civilians as Pancho Villa did, then you can call it an invasion... [IMG] Not before. What is the Mexican Military going to do to the USA? A single American aircraft carrier has more planes than the whole Mexican Air Force...

Those raids are meant to keep drugs out of American schools and to keep ilegal immigrants from dying in the desert because of the bloody 'coyotes'... If the Mexican Military wouldn't do it then the USA government would sanction Mexico for not fighting narcotraffic...

    Fried--look at it this way:

If you were a poor farmer who grew Apples from his grove of trees to sell and pay his bills with--and selling every apple counts.

OK, if a bus load of people stopped and got out and walked to his grove of trees and picked half or more of his apples, leaving no compensation and not giving a word of thanks, and then leaving. How do you think this farmer would feel?

Fried--sorry I can't make an explanation easier and trying to do it in a nice way so nobody can get offended.

It's called an A-N-A-L-O-G-Y, which is a way of explaining something whether it is exactly or remtely dealing with another subject at hand.

It's an analogy then. Silly Fried
But still don't get what you're trying to say, whether you are complaining of the immigrants who go there and steal everybody's apples or what?

Sorry you still do not get it.

How about? Would you personally feel invaded if: Someone broke into your home? someone stole your car from outside of your house? someone entering your yard to get a drink of water from the gardenhose or fawcett, and instead of doing the right thing, they just leave the water flowing not giving a care about the waste or your expense?

    Etc etc etc etc etc.

BTW, all this has happened to me and all who were guilty just happend to have been illeagals from South of the Border.

I used to patrol my own property armed with a Tec 9, with a 50 round magazine. I was NOT going to make it easy for those thieves to steal from me again.
