Great play by ManU for the first ten minutes, then the Barca goal seemed to "kill" their game. Xavi-Iniesta in the middle was excellent, and Messi is always dangerous when he gets to do his thing. The better team definitely won. Personally I was disappointed by the ManU stars, just like Tevez who was showing to the other players that they are not even trying. I guess their victory last year did not make them hungry enough this year even to try to be honest....

Manc expect everything to be handed to them on a golden plate. And they showed yet again that they are the thugs of the EPL...Ronaldo playing dirty once his dives weren't being called fouls. First a studs up challenger on Puyol (or however his name is spelled) that went unbooked, then a few minutes later he threw an elbow at the same guy and did get booked. And how about Scholes classic tackle? Deserved yellow card and got one for that.

Kaka edged closer to a world-record move to Real Madrid on Thursday after AC Milan confirmed they were willing to cash in on the Brazil star.

And with new Madrid president Florentino Perez willing to bankroll a £60.8million transfer, the player is expected to swap the San Siro for the Bernabeu when he returns from international duty early next week.

Chelsea were also reportedly interested but both they and Milan have denied any offer for the 27-year-old.

Milan general manager and vice-president Adriano Galliani said: "The Chelsea solution doesn't exist.

"Kaka will either go to Real or remain at Milan.

"That's his wish and we are doing everything in full agreement.

"We are in negotiations but no agreement has been reached yet."

Galliani admitted Madrid's offer for Kaka was too enticing to reject.

"Everyone has a heart but the numbers have become so high that even a big heart needs to consider those figures," he said.

"We cannot allow ourselves to lose 70million euros per year.

"The reasons relating to a possible Kaka departure would be financial.

 

AC Milan playmaker Kaka has undergone a medical in Brazil at the request of Real Madrid, as he draws ever closer to his switch to the Bernabeu.

When Beckham joined the LA Galaxy I read they sold 300,000 Beckham shirts within a couple of days. Just think of the total sum if one shirt is 60-80 euros/dollars each.

It´s hard to say how much that truly covers of the expenses, definitely not all, but all these stars means bigger sponsor money, more people watching the team, more shirts etc sold so in the end it could mean that the money spent could come back to the team, definitely not making extra bucks, but the balance might be ok in the end.

Just my guess on the purchase of two players for 150 million....
