Has anyone seen this game, I was blown away when I first saw it, here is a screencap: Can you tell I'm a fan of the Tiger tank?
Its my favorite wargame. I played it nearly nonstop since July and it still gives me hours of playing time. Definetly check out the mods the the CM HQ, there are so many excellent mods out there its unbelievable. CM2 will take place on the East Front - THAT will defintly be the wargame to end all wargames!
I've tried out the demo version, but it's hard to play. It isn't quite straightforward. If it was a shoot'em up style though......
I d-loaded the Demo as well. I loved the modeling but i felt the Infantry was too hard to kill and there wernt enough bodies to give you the idea of whether or not you were winning or losing. Also i hated how the Sherman tanks seemed to destroy my Panzers so easily.
I agree with you about the shermans. It's a little ridiculous how good they are, especially considering the success that the stugIII and IV's had against allied armour.
I know i felt as though they were trying to make the German Tanks seem like slow lumbering helpless Giants. Their reaction to incoming is rather slow too. I like Close combat i find that game to be much more accureate as far as Armor goes.
The demo version has been updated recently too, I imagine it corrects some of the problems you have addressed regarding Sherman armor penetraion and infantry kill-loss ratios. The game itself has had about five patches since its release and more are on the way. BTS is a very customer-oriented company and in their CM forums they constantly ask questions regarding problems and requests for future updates to CM. The latest in the line of questions is the issue about having flat unit pricing to decrease the amount of anomalies to the requisitioning of soldiers in custom battles.
I got it from a wargaming site called "Combat Mission HQ", you can visit it here: http://combathq.thegamers.net/ or take a look at the Combat Mission Homepage here: http://www.battlefront.com
I've just got hold of this one. Ye i know, a bit behind the times. I saw the manuel,ad nearly shit myself, its huge.Anyone got any tipsor suggestions. And how do i find people who are plaing it on line.
I only got this last month, and was a bit daunted by the manual. But if you play a couple of the training sessions, you soon get the hand of it. Its certainly one of the best I've come across; once I figure out how to do the Play By Mail do you fancy a battle?! Anyone got on tips on this?
I think the most popular method is PBEM although I've never done it. There are several CM websites some of which have forums and even live chat. BTW you can d/l tons of mods and missions
Bish - drop me an email via my website. By the way, I've added some wargaming links to my links page, which includes some great CM sites, as mentioned by Smoke in the previous posting. Together me might be able to work out the PBEM system!
Thanks guys. I have only just loaded it as i was meant to be going away so did not see the point. But i am not going nw, so give me a few days to get the knack of it and i'll be in touch. It looks a bit awkward to start with but then i am only realy used to Close Combat, but i'm sure i'll pick it up.
Once you get used to the interface, you'll be fine. Stick withg the smaller scenario's till you get used to it, Try panning 360 around the battlefield once you start the action, its cool Bish once you get into making your owm scenarios if your going to be the British make sure to equip your force with some Churchills. It does a body good to watch those german shells ricocheting off
Thanks for the pointers. I' sure i'l try my hand at all sides, but no doubt i'll be drawn to play German mostly. Any tips there.
I mainly play Brits or Canadians - so we are ideal opponents! There are some good tactical notes for the game on Combat Mission HQ website: http://www.combatmission.com/
