Also the arrival of Joan was it a miracle? For french moral yes but strategically, the english army besieging Orleans was weak and severely outnumbered by the french, in the hand of any good french commander, the french army would probably have won as in all the next battle on the Loire and at Patay.
Probably, but why spoil a perfectly good legend? I still think the best portrayal of Jeanne so far was by Milla Jovovich.
Gordon Have you ever heard of the city of Aubigny sur Nere (Near Bourges) ? This was offered to the Stuart refugees by the kingdom of France as a token of gratitude for their help. The place was Scottish territory until the French Revolution. The Scottish folklore is quite strong there nowadays. They still have Kilts and St Andrew crosses and some descendents are still proud of their scottish ancestors. It's amazing when you drive through the Sancerre area and the forest and land all the sudden in another dimension.
Thanks Skip. I hadn't heard of that particular city before. Just shows how strong Jacobite support still is in places outside Scotland.
Have a visit on their site it's in English too. The moto says "the country of the Scotts" and check the Heraldry the pipes and the kilts! Ville d'Aubigny sur Nère
