I see no danger of the thread getting out of hand, Our Argentinian comrade has a right to his own views, thats why we sent a task force over 8000 miles to make sure others did too. I certainly have no animosity to Argentina, if Simon Weston a guy who I spent some time with in Chessington rehabiliation centre with and his colleagues who all filed through the place witht their memories and most awful wounds, could not express distaste for them then why should I. But realities are realities, I ll certainly hold no truck with outright Nationalism be it from the penguins in Arctic, or the Martians of outer zenbillllia. Thats why we pull on uniforms.

In fact Ill ignore this thread, I wouldnt want to caise any anxiety to the mods. I have certainly ignored it so far. But 2 things are important here.
We discuss on here in other threads the equipment of war, the what ifs, the personalities. We do so in the most in a peaceful manner, we can certainly have fallings out thats allowed and I usually see a middle ground taken, but do not ever ignore the fact that wars are fought by young guys, some of you on here are those young guys, these forums are populated by much more than its members, many come to view without participating, I do so myself. WW2 is over, there are nationalities from both Axis and allies on this forum, we get along fine, but what was ww2 fought for, for the same reasons as most wars of the last century I suppose, many reasons but one being the main one, freedom of peoples to self determination. The Falklands war was no different.
I would be most displeased to think that any one would be allowed to devalue the dead of either side in that war and more especially the wounded by reigniting the hatred rather than the reasons for that particular war. If your young friend wants to shout, Ill do the British thing and let him. It matters nowt to me, it will lead to nothing certainly not an Argentinian flag over Port Stanley. On the other hand if he wishes to discuss matters in an amicable way then good luck to him.
Oh and the photo on my CP the para is ex 2 para morter platoon, Queens Gallantry Medal, my brother, Ill give way to no one on some matters.
    Regards

    That is what I want.

I wanted everyone to understand up front that there would be no yaa-yaaing, as has happened with nearly every Falklands discussion here so far.

In the early 1880s the british tried to invade argentina ( wasnt still argentina), they were rejected.

You'll need to provide a link to information on this as I find no indications of this happening in the 1880s.

One-liners tend to make great jokes, but I fail to see the fun here. Pyle, will you please learn to develop your utterances, or else we'll not be able to respond positively to your great thoughts?

Noob (I think the user's name was Noobsquadron) who joined last Autumn, mainly to fight with everybody and call names. He was discharged. A large number of his posts were unceremoniously dumped in the latrine.

I can't read Spanish, but all the dates are in the early 1800s, which we are aware of, not 1880s that you stated.
I saw the English language version of that article. You'll have no arguement that Spanish forces defeated an English force in 1806-1807, not the 1880s.

If I recall members of the European Union especially France support the British claim to the Falklands. Along with the Commonwealth of Nations.

What, and it took Argentina 180 years to re-invade?! Get a grip.
They attacked sovereign British territory in 1982 in an unprovoked act of aggression- and LOST. Get over it.
