For Texans and those who were around to have heard of her, Ladybird Johnson was the wife of Pres Johnson. Well, sadly, she passed away today at the age of 94. :-((

    Rest in Peace Ladybird.

I once visited her ranch located near Johnson City, here in Texas. Nice place with nearby river, tons of big shade trees all around and nice constant breeze.

I went on a tour there back when tours were aloowed through part of her estate. I was I think 15 at the time, and almost got into trouble looking for a bathroom. I got temporarily lost and was almost instantly found by one of those guys wearing black suits and carrying a submachinegun (aka) Secret Service Agent.

Yes, I just heard it on the news today. She was a great and inspirational first lady. A day of mourning for the great State of Texas.

She will be sadly missed. A sweet and hospitable lady. My sister worked at the LBJ libraty in Austin and was invited to her ranch for supper a couple Christmas' ago. She always went on about how sweet Ms. Johnson was.

I knew very little of Lady Bird Johnson, but I must admit that I have less than good thoughts about her. I guess it is because I have positively no use for her husband whatsoever and unfortunately, for me that makes her guilty by association.

I guess that I need to read more about her.

I remember that particular day that we toured Johnson Ranch. I don't know if it was a part of the tour but, at least that day, they had set out a refreashment area giving out cookies and Lemonade, iced tea exc.

I love the layout of that ranch and would almost never want to leave it because of the way everything there was. It would be difficult for one to get bored being there.
