Dear Stalingrad: I put the URL down on Ottos links requested page just yesterday. Thanks for such a great site.
All I can get is Hitlers "We have taken Stalingrad" speech. Do you think that the NKVD might have arrested Mr. Stalingrad? Ohhhhhhhhh, I forgot, there is no longer an NKVD.
http://www.bisnis.doc.gov/bisnis/country/010105ovvolgagd.htm Here is a website that has information about modern day Stalingrad (now know as Volgograd.) [ 08. November 2003, 01:44 PM: Message edited by: Squirrel ]
Before we dump it completely, for anyone interested in viewing the Stalingrad skyline today, I did find one site with some photos ( for the time being, at least ! ) : http://www.systems.caltech.edu/EE/Groups/communications/erimli/volgograd/ Good Luck !
Luckily the newest posted link opened for me. I read that the what is considered VERY hot ther is a mere 82 Degrees F. That is considered a bit chilly here. I read the average cold temp is 32 Degrees F. If it were 82 Degrees F here, with 30% or less humidity, it would feel rather chilly here in the shade. I would not even break a sweat working in the sun. As it is now, you walk out of your house and by the time you get to your car, you are drenched in sweat.
Carl we need to get you in the cold climes ! Did not a couple of illustirous members of our forums have a visit to the Stalingrad area two or so years ago... ? do not remember a report of their visit(s), or maybe I was beyond Pluto ? ~E
Erich, your right on a few visiting Stalingrad recently. Paul was there I think last year and I forget who else went there which was in the last few to several months.
Forgot to mention befor eI have to leave. Erich, I definately would love to be in a colder climete--I hate heat and humidity. Now, I would not like being in the North Pole kinda cold--for long periods of time, just a few to 6 months would suffice.
