On Oct. 25, 1945, Dr. Karl T. Compton spoke before members of the Senate Committee on Military Affairs. There, he discussed the Japanese "Death Ray" and what progress the Japanese had made in its development [it could kill a car engine or a rabbit at 30-40 yards]. "Muscrats were much more resistent," he said. He even basically instructed the Senators how to build one, if they were so inclined.
