I was just wondering what all of y'alls favorite assault gun, self propelled gun, or generally turretless AFV was.

Mine are the Nashorn (beastly vehicle it was)...

...And the Jagdpanzer IV. Actually, I basically like all of the German ones since lots of them look pretty similar ;).

Ha, what a question, the best one of course!

    StuG III Ausf G

StuG III Ausf. G (Sd.Kfz 142/1; 1942-45, 7,720 produced, 173 converted from Panzer III chassis) The final, and by far the most common, of the StuG series. The Ausf. G used the hull of the Panzer III Ausf. M. Later versions were fitted with the Saukopf (Ger. pig's head) gun mantlet, which was more effective than the original box metal structure at deflecting shots. Addition of a cupola with periscopes was added for the commander. Side hull skirts were added to G models for added armour protection on their sides.

    Just call me Pzjgr

These are all very well, but if I were seriously going to assault something, I think my personal favourite would be...

In the assault gun role the StuH 42 is a solid choice but I'd rather be in a StuG just incase the Red Rabbi sneaks in a T-34 here and there. A ratio of 7 StuG to 3 StuH vehicles in each Battery was viewed as correct, but seldom possible.

Though I detest these "Best" and "Favorite" type of threads .Ill post my favorite AFV. The Jagdpanzer 38(t) Hetzer Sd.Kfz.138/2. But then again I like all the variations of the Panzerkampfwagen 38(t)/LT vz. 38 :). Based just on my likes not on abilities or combat success :D .

The M18 by a country mile. This was a brilliant vehicle. In mobility, it flew; damn near literally. It could actually out maneuver enemy vehicles ability to track and fire on it. It is also still the fastest tracked AFV ever built.
As a Self-propelled gun it was one nasty opponet. The open top made for a vehicle with the ability to go virtually completely turret down with a little effort leaving little to shoot at. Its smooth turret operation and fast rotation allowed a very quick engagement rate.
The designers obviously understood the tank-on-tank and antitank game very well.
Yes, the armor was paper thin. But, you can't hit what you can't see and what you can't track. And with the M18 both were more than possible.

I would go for the StuG as first choice, especially when it has the side skirts on it and the top mounted MG.

As for the SPA, I would have to go with the M7 priest as well

Thats a Marder II I believe. Has all the pros and cons of the Marder series: Good gun, decent mobility, much cheaper than a Stug, light armor, high silhouette.
