A couple of pictures of Gin Head Radar laboratory and outbuilding near Tantallon castle, which is between Dunbar & North Berwick in Scotland...
More details here... radar « Secret Scotland pic 63 shows a fairly standard concrete bunker, but it has a hoist and a whole selection of fittings etc on the roof presumably for radar masts etc. you can just about see the laboratory with all its barbed wire in the distance.... pic 65 shows the laboratory itsself, looks like something from james bond or dr who!!!! rather a lot of barbed wire etc for a disused building :) sadly I had a poor camera on that trip, but yet another on the long list of places to revisit.

    Grim,
Good to see someone else taking up the challenge of photographing Scotland's military remains. I've got to plan any trips like a major expedition these days.
Now, if you happen to find yourself anywhere near the radar station at Drone Hill caravan site.......;)

Just along the coast to the west of Gin Head is the former radar Station at Dirleton. Amazingly it was bought and converted into a 'modern' looking house a couple of years ago or so. The fields surrounding it are still home to the usual selection of bumps'n'lumps where masts were previously and shelters and generator houses etc etc..... yet another place on my list to revisit and photograph properly!!

I've raked out my own list of places to visit; just need a miracle to actually get out on my own now....
