BY popular demand (hey, Von Poop is a popular guy, right? ;) ), the Hydrostatic drive Panzer IV at Aberdeen. Due to already-mentioned camera/time limitations, all I was really able to do was a walk-around.
The plaque in front of the tank (wouldn't come out in a photo) noted the experiemental Hydro drive. Also noted that the tank was apparently never used in action, per se. Kept at the factory for testing. As Germany was being overrun in the last months of the war, the Panzer was parked along the road to the factory to serve as last-ditch defence. Apparently never "defended" though, as the plaque claims American soldiers captured the vehicle intact without a fight.

V.P- hope these are some use/interest to ya!

    Dang, you're making jealous.

The backend looks sorta like a VW Bug.

    Okay Adam or Bod.
In the 5th photo, the one showing the Left, Rear oblique view of the tank, there is a odd tank in the distance. It looks sorta like a washtub sitting on old farm tractor. It is between the light colored one and the trapazoid-tracked tank (Mark 4?). Do you know the washtub tank is? What the heck, what is the light colored next to it, also?

CrazyD you're an absolute star, I think you must have provided in one fell swoop the best set of images of the Hydrostatic Mark IV I've seen, brilliant stuff.
Kind of makes me feel like making a model now :D.

Got to say yet again though, I bloody hope they get it under cover soonish, I also can't quite believe the Heuschrecke in the background.. also just sat outside.
I hear that cash has been a bit of a problem for Aberdeen? Maybe they should actively consider selling a rarity or two to generate some funds for the rest of the collection. I can't imagine what Jaques Littlefield and his ilk would be prepared to cough up for either of the above.

Jeff, I suspect the 'washtub' is a WW1 Whippet, and It looks like the white coloured vehicle is a Vickers Medium (The sole running example of which I shall be seeing alongside the sole running Tiger 1 before June is out! ;))

    Cheers,
    Adam.

I'd never even heard of a Hydrostatic MkIV before this thread....

The pics are just plain superb, CrazyD ! Although those tanks are too valuable to be left sitting outside like that......

( PS : Those self-propelled guns in the left background of the second pic ; don't you want to just rush over and hug 'em ? )
