    Dear all,

I am a new member in the Forum. I am trying to collect some military and political items from WWII, mainly German.
I am collecting for 4 years now and I have some items, maybe valuable maybe not (i.e. a Gold NSDAP pin small number).
I did not have tha opportunity to expose my collection to others and mainly to people they know and might have an opinion on it.
I would like to kindly ask you to visit my blog :
    www.militaria-collectors.blogspot.com

And please send me a comment for items you think are valuable or for items you might consider crap, or fakes, and maybe give me some info or I can answer to your questions etc.
Your comments are extremely valuable and appreciated!
    Thank you!

Welcome to this forum. if you wish you may go to the new memeber section and introduce yourself there.
You have a very nice blog and I really like some of your items. I particulary like the fork from Fliegerhorst Heraklion. It may not be a valuable itme, but definetely something you don't see everyday. I was in Crete last year. I loved it. In a supermarket I bought story of the Adduction of General Kneipe at the German HQ in Heraklion. It's fascinating. I followed the same route, with the exception of the mountains paths.

Thank you Skipper for your kind words!
Ideed Crete is great and with long history in WWII
I am living in the hill of karteros, there the group of the Bluchers fell near the heraklion airport.
You can feel the history all around you, in the old buildings, everywhere.
Also if you go to the mountains and visit some villages there you can find some great militaria, remnants of the German Paratroopers in the Battle of Crete.
If you find some for sale it is even great.
Hope you travel again in Crete and possibly meet and follow some tracks too.

Actually I may go back there in a few weeks. I hope to go to Rethimnio it's a place I like. . I was also in Ierapetra in 2003. I did not find any militaria though. I must not know the right places to go to. I have excellent memories of the Cretan hospitality. If you can recomend some nice militaria dealers let me know, I'd love to get something back like a buckle or a medal, (something small and authorized in an airplane)

Certainly I can let you know I think the best who deals militaria in Rethimno. Actually I travel there from Heraklion some times in order to buy. If you mention my name he knows me well. You will get good advise and no hassle.
I trust him approx. 80% (there is no 100%...). He owns a small shop downtown.
There is no guaranty that he will have super items, generally you will find a variety but the quantity he carries is depending on what he finds in villages and around the area.

No problem, I remember downtown pretty well . I remember the gorgeous billingual memorial of the 1942 invasion with a brass map of crete on a large rock. I haven't chosen my holiday destination yet, but if it's Crete I'll send you a pm and ask you for the militaria dealer address.
