The following is from a contemporary news article of the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. "Such an anniversary as this convinces that the day is not far off when wars shall have ceased, and when nations abroad and at home shall arbitrate." Thought ya'll might find it interesting given the history of the 20th century.

I was there when I was about 5. Almost 20 years ago. A few things stood out in my mind. Even as a young child, I remember standing atop Devils Den and wondering why anyone would attack this place. I also remember visiting the spot where General Reynolds was killed on the first day. After that It all blends into a series of monuments and open feilds.

You might want to consider one of the paid guides that you can hire at the visitors center. They are very good. At any rate, have fun!
