How: I was searching on google & a post for Pvt. Roger Rogge from this site came up. I suspect it was because of my search criteria which had SD&GH in it. Why: I'm on a quest to get a WWII era Glengarry with tricoloured dicing. The type worn by SD&GH. My father was a member of this regiment during WWII. I'm putting together his military items, medals, letters to my grandmother, service record, for my grandson who is named after him. If anyone has or knows where I can get this type of Glengarry I'd appreciate hearing from them. Thanks Mollyb
Stormont Dundass & Glengarry Highlanders? Is it specifically an original wartime Glengarry you're after, or would reproductions of the correct type do? Cheers, (and welcome!) Adam.
How : I used windows live search and I found this excellent site! Why : because want to discuss world war 2!
Welcome Molly, you did an excellent thing. There is plenty to learn on the forum so I hope you'll like the many threads we have.
Welcome to the forum. Would this do? Penny's of Thunder Bay Penny's 26 Manion St. Thunder Bay Ontario CANADA P7A 6Y6 Just a thought, don't we in the Commonwealth say "Pte" for Private, isn't "Pvt" an Americanism? Ah yes we do. From Official Canadian site. National Defence and the Canadian Forces Sorry for being pendantic.
Wessex, thank you for the information on Penny's. Strangly enough the street her store is on was my maiden name. We may use Pte. in Canada. But the story that drew me to this site on Roger Rogge, who was an American but served overseas with the Canadian Forces during WWII & then went on to a distinguised military career in the US Army, used Pvt. Pardon my slip.
Welcome to the Forum, Molly. Glad to see another daughter of a Canadian Veteran here. Its great that you are putting together the memorabilia about your Dad. I've got a lot of material but haven't figured out how to put it in order yet. My Dad was 3rd LAA Royal Canadian Artillery.
