I attached five photos with whatever this book is. It is writen in all german and I am guessing my grandfather took it back from the war. We didn' know we even had it till this weekend when we finlly went through his stuff after 60 years lter. The one picture is the cover of the book "Adolf Hitler", and whats amazing is each picture in the 130 page book are pasted inside like real photos from an album. The other pic is a sig by Goring and the other pic is one dated 1936 with a signature and something else written in fancy cursve. Lastly, the other thing I left was something dealing with 1.100 on the inside cover of he book and then is all written in German after that and below that gives copyrigh and publishing informtion (copyright 1936). If someone knows anything about the signifcnce of the book let me know... also there is a number 15 circled on the side of book with adolf hitler writen also.

Thanks for anyone who can help!

    I think it´s a collector´s book for pics from tobacco packs (?) ca 1935.

I have seen some in the local net auction site prices between 120-180€ depending on how many pics are included and the shape of the book.

You need to keep the book out of the light. Depending on the paper on which it was written, the light will damage it. Then you need to get the book to a legitimate rare book dealer who might be able to assess its value and historical significance. Do not accept the word of one dealer, as you really need to thoroughly research the title before you assess its value (and a single book dealer might low-ball you in order to rip you off). The book may be nothing more than a curio but you really need to get an expert to confirm that it is not significant before you decide what to do with it.

I thought everybody would know these by now....:)

Joking. No, everybody who is not into WW2, will find this strange when first seeing those books. But there is plenty of info in the internet. So I give you a few random links that explain what is the purpose. If not enough info, please come back here.

link 1 is a newspaper article

link 2 gives a list of all books published

It's called the "Cigarette Book". Prof. Gordon Mork, Purdue University, has a copy. I scanned the pix into an HTML file for him. Very rare book, most were destroyed after the war.

Keckan74, if you have access to a scanner, could you post the picture of Hitler taking a pee on a tree? Hysterical shot!

I have one of these, also. They are not especially rare, as many were brought back from Germany as 'trophies' by Allied servicemen.

As stated above, the photos were cigarette cards which were pasted in. The photos ( mainly by Hitler's 'official photographer', Heinrich Hoffmann ) are of very high quality and many of the original plates were destroyed in the war, so some of the photos are unusual and not seen elsewhere.

It's a very nice 'collectible', UK prices go for anything from £65-£100.

Okay. I'm pretty sure I'm thinking of a different "Cigarette Book" from the descriptions I've seen posted so far of this one. The book I scanned was a high quality photo book, several hundred pix of Adolf and Co. I'll send an email to Prof. Mork to see if he still has that CD and post a note if he finds it. Great stuff in there, and, as I said, the one of Hitler being "just folks" is hysterical in light of later events.
