I just recently got a WW2 M1 helmet from someones dad who was in ww2 and I was reading about these helmets and it has unique markings, McCord and Schlueter produced shells have markings which all the helmts had McCord for example "77B" or schlueter "357" with a "S" under it. I looked under the brim for these and found that mine says " 1 0254" and that only. Then on the chin straps buckle stuff it has a Anker indented in the buckle and on the buckle that attaches the strap to the shell. Theres no liner. What is this helmet is it very rare?
Mystery solved, the Ankers is for Navy since i found out he was in the Navy as for those heat stamps who knows maybe those where special to Navy isued ones
