Well guys! Watch this vid! Watch! Perhaps it will clean you thoughts about war in Ossetia! Go to YouTube - Fox News: 12 Year Old Girl Truth about Georgia
Very interesting and about time something like this comes out, however; this will most likely be moved to the other thread, as we already have one.
Why is Kosovo´s independence not acceptable but Ossetia´s is? Why does Russia treat other small areas differently than others?
Cause in Kosovo many were not agreed with independence! And in Ossetia 98% of population want independence!

When I said 70% last week, you said 90% , now it's 98% , two more percent to go (probably the cat and the dog) Whatever you may say, Russia is invading and occupying a sovereign country. Call it a peacekeeping army if you wish. The refugees are probably fleeing a deluge of flowers.
This morning a Russian general apparently hinted at Poland now being a legimate nuclear target. That's worrying, but not as depressing as two other developments: -The complete lack of any response from CND, who don't usually miss a chance to attack Britain and America over nuclear weapons. -The fact that the BBC and newspaper forums here are full of people blaming Britain and America for a Russian General's statement! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/7563182.stm http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/wor...Cameron-demands-Moscow-withdraws-Georgia.html
I suspect that if Russia pulls out of Georgia quickly, the US will pull the missile system out of Poland (and back to Germany) and then someone can write a nice analysis of how the Polish Missile Crisis compares to the Cuban Missile Crisis, with the roles of the major players swapped!
Good point there. So the Georgia crisis would be a pretext to get cookies in order to force the U.S. not to deploy missiles in Poland?
Or speeding up the place in Nato which probably was what Georgia was after on its behalf.... The Georgia Crisis: A Blow to NATO - Yahoo! News
I seam to recall reading of a bit of ethnic cleansing that has happened in the last few years in South Osseta. That's why the percentage is so high. In the light of the Russian invasion and civilians fleeing the Russian and in particular the South Ossetan irregulars the new figures are not unreasonable. Doesn't mean however that it is acceptable.
good point, and I doubt that those who fled are eager to go back to their homes , or what's left of it.
Angela Merkel talked with Medvedev on friday.... euronews | Medvedev and Merkel spar in Sochi over Georgia Within a couple of hours of the talks Russia decorated 23 soldiers involved in the fighting. Two have been declared “Heroes of the Russian Federation”. ( Wow! That was fast! )
The ‘Hero of the Russian Federation' decoration is the highest title that can be bestowed on a citizen by Russia. The President of the Russian Federation is the main conferring authority of the medal, which is bestowed on those committing deeds that involve conspicuous bravery while in the service of the state. Moscow News - Columnists - Russian Heroes Did not find any details or names but considering the size of the Georgian Army and how long the battles lasted, not sure why the ‘Hero of the Russian Federation' decorations were awarded...I can guess though.
Cheers Kai, I'll see if I can get more details. If anybody else knows the information would be welcome.
