At this very moment I am both listening to and transfering an old Joe Walsh LP for vinly to CD. The album is; The Smoker you Drink the Player you Get" At the moment I am writing this it was "Rocky mountain Way"! Now I'll have his stuff forever on digital CD even though I still think the old LP vinyl has a better "depth of sound" some how.

Listening to Susanna Hoffs and Matthew Sweet's Under the Covers album. It is a fine collection of covers from the 1960's. Currently listening to their version of Different Drum.
This week I have been mainly listening to Half Man Half Biscuit's newest album "CSI: Ambleside" and enjoying tunes like this; Here she lies in her fleecy gown By my side in the eiderdown But she can’t get a ticket to Morningtown ‘Cos I’ve got restless legs Boring though this film may be Slumber still won’t visit me So long as you stay next to me For I have restless legs Milky drink and Sudafed “That should sort you out”, she said As I kicked myself clean out of the bed Grazed my restless legs Homepathic cures I’ve sought All in all they’ve come to nought I wish it was some astronaut Who had these restless legs Four o-six and I’m wide awake I’ve got an uncontrollable urge to take A five mile hike around the Ogwen Lake Stretch these restless legs No sympathy from Uncle Greg Nor indeed from Aunty Meg Well thank God I’m not Jake the Peg With an extra restless leg So come the day when I don’t exist And worms are flying through the graveyard mist Don’t go bothering the exorcist It’s just my restless legs

I'm listening to Sinner by Judas Priest. I love that band. After this, I'll probably put on some Obituary, Naglfar, or Testament
Time to listen some Adam Ant this weekend. ( Shocker! ).... Also like to play some old 80´s records at my family´s "summer cottage" where my record player is. Anybody familiar with Canadian Dalbello? Or Australian Icehouse?
you should break down and buy a LP converter deck that plugs into your USB port and allows a guy to "clean his LPs" first as you used do to with a brush and soft cloth, and then with a "Sound soap" program that removes the pops and clicks before it puts them onto CD in WAVE format. The ITT unit I bought will handle only 33 and 45s, but I have seen another one which will take 78s too. From there a guy can "rip" them into MP3 and stuff 'em on your player! That is what I spent most of last December doing, and it was great fun to get those "golden oldies" onto CD and MP3. A great many of them cannot be found anymore.
You´re absolutely right, brndirt1! I did see these record players connectable via usb to computers a while ago at the airport but as I have some 3,000 records I prefer to wait awhile to have some time to be able to do all the re-recording....never heard of "sound soap" so that´s great news....!!
Yeah, I bought my version back in 2007, and only converted about 300 LPs that I was able to get my ex-wife to give me back. That only happened because I promised to convert any she wanted to CD (so she could use them), and so I went ahead and bought the unit. I looked all over for a system which wouldn’t be "permanent" since my own system is also generally CD, and the cassette deck I use is of "low quality" for true audiophiles. That might change in the near future, since I have also found a dual deck cassette unit which also allows a guy to move cassettes to CD, but it is still a tad out of my price range! At any rate (even though it cannot be shipped out of the USA), I thought I would send you the URL to the Amazon site so you could see what I purchased. Amazon.com: Ion TTUSB Turntable with USB Record: Electronics I went with that "non-dust cover" model pictured, since it was NOT going to be a part of my system permanently, and the wow and flutter was the lowest, the programs (Audacity and Sound Soap Beta) which came with it were the best offered, and assembly was simple. I did order the Shure cartridge to replace the standard one, but that was probably unnecessary in reality since the sapphire set that came with the unit was "ok" and when I replaced it I wished I hadn't bothered to pay the extra tarrif.. The shipping wasn’t "free" then, and the price was the full $199. Ah well, I am glad to have the LPs on CD and MP3 so I can listen to them again. BTW,what do you mean "at the airport"? Is there some spot a guy can walk in and do the conversion using their equipment and your LPs?
Sem mehr ich hearden lezst nacht. No, I aint trying out my schlecht German ;-)) "I saw Her Standing There" by: The BeaUlls. "Rockin' Robin" by: Bobby Day.
Actually they showed me the thing at the Finnish airport in the duty-free zone. Did not look much cheaper there than the non-duty-free zone....
That's cool, I was just confused for a moment. Like I said, I bought my version (the one on that Amazon site), and I couldn't be happier. It isn't something a person wants to incorporate into the system, but for transferring old vinyl to CD it was excellent. And the price was right, even at the $200. Well worth it, I made multiple copies and gave them not only to my ex, but to a couple of buddies, and both sons who remembered some of the oldies from when they were growing up. They are both into their thirties now, the oldest one supplying me with a couple of grandkids. While I only set it up to be a temp. setup for use on my own old LPs, I showed what it could do to a couple of friends and as a result I have converted some of their oldies as well. My only "price" was if I wanted to I could make a copy for myself, and they would supply me with the blank RW-CDs. Have really added to my "library" with that little "offer". Don't laught, I set it up on a TV tray alongside my compter desk since it "wasn't going to be permanent", but I have taken it down and put it back up (with all the leveling and speed adjustments) so many times I just decided to cover it with a sheet of plastic, I don't have any rug rats around here, and simply unplug it from the 'puter. This way if somebody else wants an old LP copied, all I have to do is uncover it, check the level and turntable speeds, and start doing the deed. My "Soundsoap" Beta has expired, but the one that is included in the Audacity program is okay if the pops and clicks aren't too extensive.
Well they have their latest video clip as a trailer on my provider's homepage, so you bet I tried it out.
