Hello everyone im trying to find some books to read on the US Rangers during WW2 and books on the battle of the Hurtgen Forest. Im looking for more memoirs than just histroical books, but if its a good read im not really fussed. If anyone has any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Hi Mat as far as books on the Rangers are concerned i would recomend the following Darby's Rangers, We Led The Way BY WILLIAM DARBY and Rudders Rangers, the true story of the 2nd Ranger Battalion by Ronald L.Lane.All the best. Jason

Howdy, I recently read a WWII book that deals with the subject of the Hurtgen Forest. It is a very short read (I downloaded it free - Google Chuck's Story by Larry Haugen to find it). I personally found it quite interesting. I wish more folks with connections to WWII veterans would write their stories for them while they're still able to tell them. It would be a great legacy for a well deserved Vet from that era.

Amazon has some good options. One Called Rangers in world war two is a pretty detailed account of the rangers and goes into the battle Hurtgen forrest and hill 400 and the absolute carnage and skill of the rangers. That hill had been attacked by regular infantry several times and the Rangers used suprise to take it and guts to keep it. I believe two brothers were killed in the CP bunker. Pretty moving story.
