I think most of us have WW2 books that are either "doubles" or unwanted for some other reason. Don't know about the rest of you but I would like to give my old books a "decent burial" in the hands of someone who really would appreciate them insterad of ending up rotting in a cellar or put up at a charity sale so how about a book trading section?

Sounds good to me. My wife (Bless her) sorta reminds me of my military history books are getting out of hand. (I never mention her yarn collection is akin to the tribbles on Star Trek though!)

    Anyway, a great idea!

that is an interesting idea. I also have some books that I have purchased, having forgotten that I already had them. I am moving this thread over to the WWII Books section as I think there will be more exposure there. We can go ahead and submit a list of books avalable here and those interested can make the exchange arrangements here so we know which are avalable and those which are not. Details like addresses and so on can be exchanged via PM.

The alternative is to create a subfolder and post book titles as the thread titles but don't know if the space for it is the way to go. Unless someone else has other ideas.

How about the easiest but maybe messiest option....Just say what book you want....then the owner can deal direct. Rather than list books we all have for swapping.

Be quick....Im moving house...wife is looking at charity bags and bin bags in the old book room...I cant keep her back for ever....Anyone got a particular book they want...If I have it just want postage..

I'm not an expert on VBulletin but as an IT guy I think we could use some sort of "quotes" so the search function will find what we are looking for. My idea was to find a home for books that would otherwise meet an inglorious end so it was more an "I have this "endangered" book looking for a home, I know this will force us "space challenged" owners to make difficult choices, double copies are easy to part with but after that ......

Well for a beginner, with a small library, I don't really have any books to trade, but I'm willing to buy some used books!

I will will start my list, which contains both offers and requests, with some naval classics (or at least pieces of them) and a couple of other "confimed doubles". I know I have other doubles but until I find the stored away copy I can't comment on it's condition.
Roskill - The War At Sea volumes 1, 2, and part one of volume 3 - HMSO (I am desperately looking for part 2 of volume 3 as I have two sets both missing the last volume) condition is good but not new.
Morrison - History of US Naval operations in WW2 volume IX Sicily Salerno Anzio (this is the recent Castle Books edition and is practically new as It was a mistaken purchase and I'm using the older Atlantic Little Brown I already had as reference. That one too is incomplete I only have volumes III to IX so I'm looking fot the rest but I believe Morrrison gets reprinted from time to time.
I also found two naval "doubles" in Italian :
Bagnasco Le Armi delle navi Italiane Albertelli.
Petacco Le battaglie navali del Mediterraneo nella seconda guerra mondiale Mondadori
Neither is a great book but if you are interested in the mediterranean and understand Italian both are worth having.
For the lovers of obscure tanks carri armati in servizio fra le due guerre Bizzarri, roughly similar to an Osprey, it covers the Ft-17 in Italian service and the Fiat 2000, Fiat 3000 and CV 29 tanks, rather bad condition as the glue of the Bizzarri editions ages badly and this is made worse by the very thick and rigid paper they used.
I also found a double (paperback and "usable" condition) of To loose a battle by Alistair Horne which is my favorite WW2 book. If anyone is interested in the French 1940 campaign a must read but if you are French watch your blood pressure.
I should also have a second copy of Dull's The Imperial Japanese Navy, if anyone is interested in that contact me by PM and I will search for the right box.

I think this is a great idea, although due to the extreme shipping prices these days I think I'll have to stick with European folks.

    I've got:

Panzer Battles - von Mellenthin in paperback
Hitler's Gladiator: The Life and Wars of Panzer Army Commander Sepp Dietrich in softcover.

I will have to take another look at my library

I "purged" my book collection just before moving. I gave all mine to a Para-Vet/Friend and also as donations to the Library.

I still have a few duplicates including Tigers in the Mud (Caris) Tank Killers and German Ribbon Bars.
