there are some strange ones like a multitude of poor Jews being rounded up for deportation. Bundesarchiv has been "allowing" certain researchers admittance for several years and finally got this up on-line almost a year ago, through the continual efforts of volunteers working there. so many images this is just an inkling of what could and can be gathered there if one has the time, the energies and the contacts for specialization

glad you posted the link, am sure in time the BA will allow more period imagery to show.

My second opinion is that this the greatest collection of German WW2 photos on the internet...

An interesting thing about the 1944 photos is how skinny and sickly looking a lot of the German soldiers are (and quite telling is that a lot of them are in "elite" units). Most of them look like they don't weigh much more than 130-140 pounds. And they are generally shorter than the troops in previous years.

Nice site. I've seen several of the photos from the site used in books-particularly the ones showing Volksturm w/ their Panzerfausts and the pics of General Scherer (General w/ a beard) which BTW, I alost bought a HHPK pic of this General awarding the KC to a Colonal.

again I point this out that the BA was only open for many years to serious historians, what you find amongst the interesting images is just that - what you have seen in books of German print later translated to the more modern.

That T-34 is pretty small. I thought they were larger (compared to a person).
