A shame about Oregon this weekend. I was really hoping they would finish out well, but thats why they make you play all your games. Good job by Stanford, who is beginning to become known as something of a spoiler team lately. My Nittany Lions lost to OSU this weekend. Nothing left of the season to look forward to now. We will get a bowl game but nothing good. Probably something like the Whogivesacrap bowl. Alabama is set now. I don't think they have anything to really worry about left on their schedule, other than the SEC Championship, Which I think they should just go ahead and make that the NC game. Texas hasn't impressed me all that much. I agree with Jeff. Weis will be done after this year. I want to give him another year or two to turn it around, but these are all his players now. I think Notre Damn needs to join a conference if they ever want to get the recruits and bring the school back to the top. Personally I wouldn't want to play there, a bunch a scrub matches against the service academy's (not that these teams are scrubs, but you don't go to Annapolis to play ball), as well as a couple games you have no chance at winning doesn't equal a team that can excite fans the way they used to. I would love to see UC get a major bowl game, but when you give up 45 despite a win, it makes the case difficult to make, that you can still play with a Florida or Texas. Right now it looks like TCU has the best chance for a non-BCS-conference school to make a major BCS-game.
I can't believe I forgot these last week. The AP Top 25 following 10 Weeks of NCAA play 1 Florida (39) 9-0 1467 2 Texas (10) 9-0 1430 3 Alabama (11) 9-0 1422 4 TCU 9-0 1271 5 Cincinnati 9-0 1263 6 Boise State 9-0 1228 7 Georgia Tech 9-1 1127 8 Pittsburgh 8-1 945 9 LSU 7-2 904 10 Ohio State 8-2 898 11 USC 7-2 834 12 Miami (FL) 7-2 805 13 Houston 8-1 783 14 Oregon 7-2 752 15 Iowa 9-1 741 16 Utah 8-1 706 17 Oklahoma State 7-2 492 18 Arizona 6-2 476 19 Penn State 8-2 467 20 Virginia Tech 6-3 275 21 Wisconsin 7-2 274 22 Brigham Young 7-2 219 23 South Florida 6-2 167 24 Clemson 6-3 149 25 Stanford 6-3 107 Dropped from rankings: Notre Dame 19 Oklahoma 20 California 23
We never let our guard down, where the Barn is concerned. I hated to see PSU take it on the chin I am still amazed that USC (West) is still ranked as high as it is, with two losses and in one of them, they had their butts handed to them. I have strong suspicion that USC (East) will be coach-hunting too, following their apparent failed Spurrier experiment.
USC (west) will plummet after the thrashing that Stanford gave them on Friday. IIRC, they're down around 20 now.
Does my heart well to see USC get pummled. Ranked 22 now, lowest since Pete Carroll came to coach. Good.
They should have dropped out completely, considering they have had two teams mop the floor with them the past two weeks. Yes they are. It was an all around good weekend-Bama won, the barn lost, as did Notre Dame, Michigan and the aforementioned USC (West). Alabama's O seemed back on track this past weekend. There were no wide open deep receivers missed for a change. The Crimson Tide hosts Tenn-Chattanooga this next weekend then heads over to east Alabama to play the Barn on the 28th.
I've been doing alot of crying lately, as an Auburn fan. I'll have to watch them get licked up again by Alabama in the Iron Bowl.
Surprisingly yes, we get alot of American TV here. Peachtree TV out of Atlanta has SEC Saturdays so I can catch the odd Auburn game. Most of the time I just flip through other games, and keep track of the Auburn games online.
So, 1. Are you Canadian? 2. If so, why Auburn, of all the other 119 Div 1 teams out there? I mean come, Auburn? RTR
Lol yea, I'm Canadian...why Auburn I don't know. I'm a TB Buccaneers fan, and about the year I started getting into it, they had a hot rookie running back from Auburn...I've always liked southern culture, so I looked into Auburn a bit more, and just kind of stuck with them I guess. War Eagle!! haha.
It's never too late to make up for past mistakes. The Crimson Tide is always looking for new faithful fans. You should come to Alabama about this time of year, it's brutal. The Iron Bowl is probably the bitterest rivalry in collegiate football. We hate each other, with a passion. RTR
We need to tackle the problem at the roots...if you're going to get into a sport, you should have at least picked a winning team!
The Crimson Tide had more or less a practice game today, playing Div 1AA team UT Chattanooga. 35-0 at the half, the second and third teams played the second half. The final was 45-0 and could have been worse, for what it was worth. The first team scored at will and Mark Ingram rushed for 101 yds and TD or two before he was benched midway in the second quarter. Notre Dame lost to Connecticut. Looks like Charlie Weis will be hitting the unemployment line. The Mad Hatter had clock management issues and LSU went down to Ole Miss in a nail biter. Miamah beat whoever they played. Haven't caught up on the rest of the games.
