Kate Beckinsale was gorgeous in Pearl Harbor. And the battle scenes were alright. everything else was god awful.
I won't argue with either statement. The topic doesn't preclude well made movies that someone didn't like. It isn't the singing part, Can-Can and Guys and Dolls are among my favorite movies. There is something treacly about the whole concept. I can't stand the songs. and it's just too saccharine for me.
HOLA!!!! and Holy Guacamole (SP?) BATMAN!!! FINALLY something I can agree with you on Miguel. This having to do with Steven Seagal. Seagal USED to rock but now is only a wanker.
I'm right with you on that one - absolutely one of the worst I've ever seen at the Movies ; although 'Pearl Harbor' and 'Titanic' are right up ( or down ? ) there.....
Theres two movies I can think of off-hand that I regretted watching that came out when I was six or younger. The first one-I went and saw it at the old Texas Theaters w/my Dad and an older Brother-which was a movie about the Boggy Creek Monster. One scene in particular that scared the begeezus out of me was a scene where some guy had gone to the restroom and wasdoing business on the pot-when the Boggy Creek monster ripped a hole in the wall-and I don't remember anything after that because I got scared and ran into the lobby. The other movie that scared my blonde hair white-was Jaws. I was 6-7 when that came out and the one scene that really bothered me the most was a scene where Divers were underwater and came across a sunken boat and all of a sudden some guys head popped into view which had an eyeball hanging loose for its socket. I had nightmares from that one for months afterwards. Today it's easy to laugh at the obsurdity of both of those movies.
Out of africa.......Meryl Streep............shoot me shoot me now..........and then ........she makes a film called............Death becomes her, now i really liked that.
I can only remember a couple of movies I have paid to watch, which I wished I could get a refund for. The first one wasn't my fault since my Mom dragged us all in to see "Sound of Music". Lord I detested that show, and for a while Julie Andrews too (I'm sorry). The other one really was my fault, but for an understandable reason (I hope). My new wife and I had gone to Great Falls to do some big-time shopping, and while a new set of glasses was being made we decided to just "go to a show" next door rather than drive somewhere else and just drive back to the place. Lord what a mistake. "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" was playing, and since I had enjoyed both the book and the original "Valley of The Dolls" movie I figured it might be ok. That is the only show I can ever remember walking out of in disgust, went to another place and had an early lunch. Should have done that and saved the ticket price.
girlie-boy I had forgotten about that clunker. Make them give you your money back. I have, twice, after trying to watch a turkey of a movie.
Wasn't worth the bother, walked out well before it was over, and anyway this was in the seventies and the matinee price was only about $1.50 per seat. Just walked out shaking our heads, went and had an early meal and laughed about the stinker.
One sad thing about being there to watch Jaws-is that there was a War Movie playing in the other theater. We could have still got our monies worth-had they let me go into that theater-but I had to have an Adult w/me;-(
My youngest son thought it was great, when he was about eight. When he saw it again at age 16 on TV for free he looked over at me and asked; "what did I love about this again? This is dumb."
What is it with all you sound of music haters ? Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens Brown paper packages tied up with strings These are a few of my favorite things Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings These are a few of my favorite things Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes Silver white winters that melt into springs These are a few of my favorite things When the dog bites When the bee stings When I'm feeling sad I simply remember my favorite things And then I don't feel so bad Don't that just give you goose bumps.
This is actually one of my favorite movies. Yes, the subject of the movie is unreasonable, but I like all partisan movies.
As I matured, I came to appreciate SOM for its photography and some of its music. But I kept thinking the first time I sat through with wife #1, "I need to be studying for my quantum mechanics test!" So I've always avoided seeing it again!
