I thought he might be this fellow, but since the uniforms are different I dunno.

Julius Schreck - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It was the cleft in the chin, the shape and set of the mouth, and the ears which made me think of Schreck. I'm probably plum wrong here, but I cannot read the autograph on the bottom of the photo and don't know if it is from the man in the photo or to the person who received it.

As I said, just a WAG on my part.

Definitely British uniform. Staff Officer tabs. Can't make out the name, yet. Where did you get the photo?

Looking at the signature, could he be Polish, or Czech ? The 'toothbrush' moustache was never popular in Great Britain......

    Martin,

That was my thought about the name. Need more info from raydenkarate about where they obtained the photo, but I'm wondering if he's Czech Independent Armoured Bde.

thanks for your responses, it was given to me in a box full of old photos. there were other uniformed men in it, mostly obviously english soldiers but a few that we thought may be polish as there were a few polish and german postcards amongst the photos.

OK. Can you make out the surname on the photo? As many letters as you can get will help.

Im leaning towards Polish. The shoulder boards ,collar insignia and the signature looks to be Polish.
