The Mulus looks an awful lot like the Universal Carrier.

Am I wrong or is this a Panhard with German markings? I wasn't aware they used them. Not suprising though - the 232 series didn't have the punch with its 20mm while the
panhard had a pretty nasty 25mm.

Any idea what this is? Appears to be a short barreled 20mm if I am not mistaken.

Yes there is a connection but tenious. the "mulus" has suspension components similar to the CV 33 tankette although the tracks are lighter. Austria bought some CV33 as Kleinkampfwagen M1933.

The CV 33 or CV3/33 was developed by the Italians after purchasing the 25 MkVI Carden Loyd carriers. The CV33 had little in common with the Mk VI apart for general layout, so in effectthe CV33 was an indiginous design using similar suspension design to the Carro di rotturia.

Ansaldo had links with Vickers note the similarities of the Vickers 6tonner with the M11-39 Vicker Chairman was Sir john Carden.

As far as I am aware there were no Carden Loyd vehicles sold to Austria- which is surprising as many other countries bought samples, notably the Carden Loyd light tractors to Nowack GmbH in Germany and the two man tankette to Soviet Union.

AIMK used either a Stange M30 LMG or the Schwarzlose heavy sMG 07.

Yes they are Panhards or PzSpw Panhard 178-P204(f) in germans service. 190 standard a/cs were issued ot units at the start of Barbarosa, an unknown number were fitted with the bed stead aerial similar to that fitted to Sdkfz232 a/cs. 43 with Bedsteads were fitted out as rail cars and a small number were converted to carry a 5cm KwK L/42 in a SPG style mounting with a command car fitted with only a single 7.5mm MG mle 31. Of the 190+ funk wagen issued 107 were lost by the end of the year.

The gun diagram is the 3.7cm KwK L/46 gun from the early model Pz 3.
