Joint Press Release by the Ambassador of the State of Israel, H.E. Itzhak Shoham, and the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, H.E. Andreas Michaelis, on 29 June 2005

Ambassador of Israel and Ambassador of Germany Welcome Remarks of Education Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam on Unchallenged Use of Adolf Hitler as a Leadership Idol during Singaporean School Outing and Offer Dialogue with Participants.

on 25 June 2005, a group of Singaporean students chose “Adolf Hitler” as their group name and idol during a recent leadership camp.

    http://www.sing.diplo.de/en/02/Botschafter__und__Abteilungen/Press_20releases.html

"We like him. He led Germany and was very good although he was evil," the newspaper quoted the group's leader, an un-named 15-year-old female student, as saying in Saturday's edition.

The eight students who idolised Hitler were taking part in a four-day leadership camp for brass band members.

Other groups named their teams after Julius Caesar, Isaac Newton, Alexander the Great and Douglas MacArthur.

Thank you for the link. This is truly a sad and disheartening thing to see such ignorance in the youth of the world. Hopefully, people will educate themselves and perhaps visit this site to learn more about history.

Even today, the Nazi's propaganda is still working. only now they should know that it is only propaganda. The German people back then had the excuse of being "dupped" into the movement. But today, hindsight tells us different. Pity those mislead youth. They need a wake up call

The ignorance of youth should never be underestimated. Since this was Singapore I think 3 or 4 lashes each should cure them of their delusions.....

most youth do not understand the consequences of their actions and often do not kno what they are talking about... they walk hand in hand with controversy, always looking for attention not thinking about the people they will hurt... just a few months ago in my neighbouring city (ironically used to be known as Berlin, ontario... now kitchener)two teens held a nazi flag out of the window of their apartment citizens phoned the police to try and get it tooken down but sadly our laws allowed them the right display their "beliefs"... youth can be very foolish, really what is most foolish is that hitler hated the western world...he would despise those youth
