Well, I am hoping this will be a very educational experience for me...I have to learn a little bit more about the people and faces of WW2. Here's how the quiz could go. Quizmaster gives 5 clues or descriptions or achievements of said WW2 person, from any time in his life. First person to come and answer must give three CORRECT additional details, WITHOUT saying the name. After it is confirmed by the quizmaster, he/she is the new quizmaster, BUT, he CANNOT begin the next question until someone else gives the correct name of the mystery person. This way, I can learn a lot more about these people...if anyone decides to take part in this quiz... I guess I will start this off. 1. Did take command of 12th US Army Group 2. Present at surrenders of both Japan and Germany 3. Died in San Antonio, Texas, in 1966 4. Received Distinguished Service Cross in WWI 5. Dropped out of West Point, climbed to General from rank of private. Who is this fellow?
Here we go (I think): 1. Retired in March 1949 2. Dropped out of West Point due to low Mathematic ability 3. Born somewhere in Georgia
correct, now i was going to have u wait for someone else to get it right, but if no one does so for 24 hrs, u are quizmaster
Here we go: 1. Educated at German Military School 2. After being in WW1, he was called back to duty at the age of 58 3. Was awarded the Knights Cross with Oak leaves and Swords 4. Disobeyed explicit orders from Hitler towards the end of the war 5. Died in Captivity, 1954
Here we go: 1. Placed in command of Army Group A in November 1942 2. Commanded a Panzergruppe of his own name in France in 1940 3. Imprisoned in Vladimir Prison, highest ranking German officer to die in Soviet captivity
lol, i am still in the running, i just tend to have trouble figuring it out right away, but i think i have the name of him... would it be Paul Ludwig Ewald von Kleist?
wow to tell the truth that was a guess, i was only basing it off 2 and 4 time to take this to the next level: 1. Instrumental part of planning the Mukden Incident, resulting in the Manchuria takeover. 2. Career took a nosedive when his forces were defeated by the Soviets in 1939 in the skirmishes at Nomonhan. 3. Reassigned to the "Chosen Army", a backwater post, immediately afterward. 4. Surrendered Japanese forces in Southeast Asia to Mountbatten in 1945. 5. Sentenced to death and executed in 1948 on crimes related to the Mukden Incident and prisoners of war cases.
i think i got it: 1. Born January 12, 1885 2. Became Chief of the Intelligence Section of the Kwantung Army in 1931 3. From 1937 to 1938 he was the commander of the IJA 5th Division in China during the early part of the Second Sino-Japanese War.
ok, here is one: 1. Commanded the defenses of Alaska early in the war. 2. Conducted the amphibious assault on the Japanese island of Okinawa. 3. Killed during the closing days of the Battle of Okinawa by enemy artillery fire. 4. Was a West Point instructor from 1919-1923. 5. In July, 1944, he was sent to Hawaii to organize the Tenth Army.
1. Father was a Confederate General 2. Succeeded by Marine General Roy Geiger 3. LOL --> Named after South American Revolutionary
Hey guys, Generally we only have one question at at a time waiting on an answer with the person to answer the last question asking the new question, giving hints as needed until current question is anwered. Y'all sort it out among yourselves as to who "has the floor" and try to stick to the quiz guidelines.
hmmm...well, IMO the extra info actually helps the answerers, so i guess, we'll keep it to five facts. The answerer will give the additional three, and then the name.
